Advantaged Thinking

Approaching problems and challenges with a focus on strengths and opportunities, rather than deficits and limitations.

It is about recognising and building on the assets and resources that individuals and communities possess, rather than solely focusing on their needs and deficiencies.

Using Advantaged Thinking to guide collaboration, coaching and organisations can create more effective and sustainable solutions to social issues. By shifting our focus from what is lacking to what is present, we can unlock the potential and capabilities of those we serve. This not only empowers individuals and communities, but it also creates a more positive and inclusive environment where everyone’s contributions are valued.

Advantaged Thinking was developed by Colin Falconer during his time as the Director of Innovation with the Foyer Federation in the United Kingdom as a way to enable young people who are struggling to make the transition to adulthood.
