BSL’s submission to Jobs and Skills Australia’s Regional Roadmap was informed by what we heard from NYEB members living in regional Australia – including Youth Advisory Board members – in two consultation workshops.
Jobs and Skills Australia’s Regional Roadmap is a national plan to guide how jobs and skills are developed in regional areas across Australia.
As the work of our NYEB colleagues in Darwin, Warrnambool and Eurobodalla consistently shows, regional communities have unique challenges, like being far from services or lacking infrastructure. A one-size-fits-all approach to jobs and skills doesn’t work. The Roadmap aims to support local evidence based discussions and planning so each region can shape its own future for jobs and skills. Building on the feedback to Phase 1 of the Regional Roadmap work, JSA will hold roundtable meetings in different regions to help build customised plans for each area and industry. BSL has been invited to attend their roundtable in Tasmania in November. JSA will launch Phase 2 of the Roadmap in 2026.
