What was your first ever job?
Working retail at a bakery.
How did you go from there to here?
I was guided through school to pursue a career in the arts because I excelled in that area. I studied, applied for an internship and continue to undergo professional development exercises to better my work.
What’s something different about your local community?
We are an incredible crossroads. Warrnambool has city, country, farming and ocean to offer. Job opportunities in trades, the arts, retail, healthcare, hospitality. I think it wouldn’t matter what you wanted to do, you could find a job that is either pursuing your career or is a stepping stone to gain experience in the right direction.
What are you working on right now?
I am working on a documentary that captures the lives of those affected in the 2026 January Skipton, Carrnaballac, Streatham fires.
What’s a tip for someone trying to do what you’re doing?
Be sure to be inquisitive, find unconventional ways to practice your skill and get really good at failing. To achieve something you haven’t achieved before you have to do something you haven’t done before.
What do you want to learn next?
I want to learn more about how to be financially literate, I don’t want to have to rely on anyone financially.
